Call for papers. The future of student engagement and student-staff partnerships to enhance higher education. Vol 11, No 1 (2025)

07/22/2024

For Volume 11, No. 1, we are looking to attract a range of submissions that develop ideas on the future of student engagement and student-staff partnerships to enhance higher education. Contemporary university and college education continues to change, as our providers adapt to new preferences in engagement following the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of innovations in digital technologies. Our 2024 conference drew together students and staff to discuss curriculum design, artificial intelligence, embedding skilful practices and supporting student success in the blended university. We especially welcome co-authored submissions by staff and students on the following themes:

  • Supporting and adapting provision for a diversity of students and programmes
  • Facilitating active blended learning in the digital university
  • Creating meaningful, supportive and authentic experiences for international students
  • Enabling students to gain employability skills for the contemporary world
  • Engaging in co-creation to support student outcomes.

The call is based on the themes listed below that featured at the 2024 CAN conference held at the University of Portsmouth in May. However, attendance at the conference does not preclude submission. This is an open call for contributions and we welcome proposals from any staff or student who may wish to publish work based on these themes.

Deadlines:

  • Stage 1 – Expressions of Interest: Please provide a 500-word proposal that summarises the context, aims and arguments of your piece. Please also indicate which of the themes it addresses and its relevance to student engagement and/or student-staff partnerships. Please send your outline by 27 August, 2024 to our guest editor: Julian Ingle ingle@port.ac.uk
  • Stage 2 – First submission (via the JEIPC platform): 30 December 2024
  • Stage 3 – Final submission (via the JEIPC platform): 15th January 2025
  • April / May 2025 – Publication date

Thank you for your interest. Please read more details about the submission process below.
